The Peaceful Season is the third book of a wonderful series that tells the not-always-so-simple story of Melinda Foster's sojourn in the small town of Prosper, Iowa, following the loss of her job in Minneapolis. Everything I said in my reviews of the first two books in the series, Growing Season and Harvest Season, apply to this third book as well. This is not a flashy tale -- just a well told story of a 40-something women who re-purposes her life without fully intending it. This is a quiet, easy read. The story flows naturally, and the reader is borne quietly along with it. The season has turned to early winter, with approaching holidays and all the pressures they bring. Ahead as well is the really hard part of an Iowa winter, and Melinda finds herself wondering if she'll be up to the task. In the meantime, she's caught up in the affairs of the town, of her own family, and the family of the bachelor farmers who still own her farmstead. She also finds herself involved in a touchy situation involving the family of one of her older friends, wanting to do something to help but hesitant to intervene where her help may not be welcomed. Things work out in the end, of course, but Ms. Lageschulte's ending is realistic and satisfying. Unusual for me, I bought this book on its first day of release, and look forward to the December 2018 release of Waiting Season.

This is a story of a young lady who decides to return to her hometown, rents a sheep farm and begins her life as a rancher. She has friends and family who help her realize that this is really where she should be. The story is solid but did not move along fast enough for me.

I have enjoyed the whole series of these books and can’t wait to read the next one. For those people not living or coming from the country it shows a new light on how other people live. The main character hadn’t been living in the country for quite a long time and had forgotten what it was like to live a quiet country life. She went to the country and stayed, enjoying being able to become a part of the community instead of just rushing off to work and hearing all the noise. Enjoy the books and how the writer describes things.

A many-layered view into the beginnings of winter in a small town. Melinda has begun the process to buy the brothers’ farm. She is learning to cope with the burden of daily chores, daily work in town and the gossip that permeates small town Prosper. Not all in Prosper is idyllic. Family secrets emerge through the cold and snow. Staid views of expected social interaction contrast with empty buildings and closed hearts. Are friends and family enough to bolster hearts against the coming of cold Winter?

I have read them all and have pre-ordered the 12/18 release!! Her writing is wonderful, the stories are great, I love her descriptions of the town, the farm, the people. I fell in love with Sunny and Stormy, being a life long cat person and being owned by a few! Love the sheep and was so happy she kept them! These books are heart warming but NOT smarmy. I hope she continues to write more in this series. The characters are very well developed to the point I can picture each and every one!

This wonderful series by Melanie Lageschulte is FANTASTIC! I’ve read every single book and greatly look forward to the next book due out in April. The characters are so believable that before too long you feel as though you know them yourself! I hated for the last book to be finished- I want to know what my friends are doing now! Reminds me so much of Diane Greenwood Muir and her series with Polly & Co! Just a terrific read!

I received the book the day it was released and could not stop reading it until the end. The only issue I have is I have to wait until December 1st for the next one. You get so involved with the characters, you don't want the book to end. You can't wait to see what is going to happen next in the small rural town with all the lovable characters. I have read all in this series.

This book/series was a comfortable read. The central character loses her high stress city job and learns to love something completely different. In doing so, she pulls the reader with her. Life on a rural route comes with its own challenges and concerns and that makes for good reading.
