Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story line is great and keeps the reader engaged. Unlike most book series, this second book in the series introduced us to new characters and brought in the first book's characters towards the end. This book can be read as a stand-alone book.The author needs to engage a proofreader or an editor - there are many places in the book in which words or phrases did not make sense and / or were partially omitted which really caused a hiccup in my reading. The book is mostly well-written and the flow is mostly fantastic, until you get to one of the hiccups.
The story was engaging and I look forward to the third in the series. The only issue I hard with the book was missing words, mangled sentences and misspelled words. Nothing a good proof reader and editor can't help fix. Definitely do not regret buying the first two.
I enjoyed this book it is book two in the awakening series ( can be read as a stand alone) The characters are good story line keeps you reading. I look forward to reading book three.
Story line draws you in and getting to know characters keep you. Can't wait for next adventure(book). Have not stopped since picking up first book and have #3 on way.
Wish I could rate higher but am unable to do so when my overall feeling is: confused. Lots of unanswered questions. I didn't know what was happening because the main character had no idea either. There was lots of action at the end with people that just brought more questions. Anticlimactic resolution. Was there a resolution? Back to confused... Original storyline but more explanation required.
I downloaded Reluctant Gods, book 2 of the Awakening series, as a free book from Amazon. I accidentally read this before book 1, which I also downloaded during a freebie offering, but I don't know that it would have filled any blanks in this somewhat holey plot. The book contained numerous errors (dropped words, nonsensical sentences, spelling, and grammar) which should have been caught by a decent editor, and in some cases, spell-check. I will not attempt book 1, Mutts Like Me, as I can't imagine the edit will have been better. A 2.5 read, rounded up because I got it free.
Like the previous book in this series. I'm left wanting more. Such as what effect the blue flames healing of Phoebe will have on her life. What's Sara going to do now. For instance is she a witch like Phoebe is or some thing else. Really looking forward to your next book.
