This is a great followup to the first Jack Hart book, "All Good Things". All the main characters from the first book continue their life stories, their characters continue to be developed. Officer Mark Oden, who was the long lost foster brother of Jack in the first book ends up at a gruesome murder scene with a smoking gun in his hand. This "whodunnit" episode challenges Jack and Harmonys friendship with Mark as well as their legal (and investigative) skills when they lose their criminal defense lawyer and must step in to exonerate Mark. As in the first book, author Rosemary Reeve keeps the story fast paced, interestingly situated in Seattle and provides lots of twists and continued "leaking" of tidbits of each of the characters past that all tie into understanding who they really are. This is a quick yet interesting and enjoyable read.
Another thoroughly enjoyable read by Rosemary Reeve. In the first book we are introduced to the machinations and inner workings of a law firm coupled with an unnerving series of murders. This book continues with another murder laced with undertones right out of today's headlines and propels us through a high profile trial with all its legal twists and turns. Reeve's characters are compelling and endearing. It's utterly refreshing to have a female heroine who is beautiful, intelligent, rich and generous, with men around her whose egos are so firmly in place that they are not threatened by her, but admire and love her even more for these attributes. I am looking forward to the next installment!
This series is well written with great characters all round. Enjoyed the plot and story line all the way through.
I love the plots in all the Jack Hart Mystery’s, they are original and clever witha pace that keeps you turning the pages. It is the characters that pull you in and become soFamiliar to you and endearing. While solving murders, you are treated to the complexityOf their backgrounds and the situations that shaped them. They have such loyalty and affection for one anotherNO GOOD DEED delivers all that you have come to expect.
As I understand it, Ms. Reeve wrote this book several years ago when officer shootings (particularly the racial elements) had not yet come to the public consciousness as they now rightfully have. Writing in a pre-sensitive era could have been disastrous, but the author seems to have been wisely prescient, understanding sensitivities and weaving a good mystery through it all. I wondered if two young attorneys could be expected to be so competent in a difficult case outside their core areas of training, but I bet there is a good chance Ms. Reeve herself probably could have, so I shouldn't be so surprised!
I truly enjoy the characters and plots in this series.
This was the first of what I promised myself to follow and read them all. Such a twist, turn and twist again story. Couldn't put it down.My Best. JUDY
